Custom Commissions
Thank you for your interest in commissioning an original painting. Creating commissioned artwork is one of the most rewarding parts of my practice, allowing me to collaborate with collectors to create a piece that is uniquely personal while remaining true to my artistic voice.
Every commission is an original work of art, thoughtfully developed through conversation, observation, and artistic interpretation. My goal is to create a painting that not only complements your space but becomes a meaningful part of your home for years to come.
The Commission Process
1. Initial Consultation
We begin with a conversation about your vision.
During this stage we will discuss:
- The room or space where the artwork will live
- Desired size and orientation
- Color palette
- Overall mood and feeling
- Inspiration images (optional)
- Framing preferences
- Budget and timeline
Photos of the room are always helpful and allow me to better understand the space and lighting.
2. Proposal
After our consultation, you'll receive a personalized proposal outlining:
- Painting dimensions
- Estimated completion timeline
- Price
- Framing options (if applicable)
- Estimated delivery or shipping costs
Your place in my commission schedule is reserved once the proposal is approved and the deposit is received.
3. Reservation Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before work begins.
The deposit reserves your place in my studio schedule and covers consultation time, design development, materials, and preparation.
Because each commission is created specifically for one collector, deposits are non-refundable once work has begun.
4. Creation
Each painting develops through many layers of acrylic and mixed media.
During the process I may share occasional progress photographs so you can follow the evolution of your artwork.
Rather than creating an exact copy of another painting, I create an original work inspired by the conversations we have together.
5. Completion
When the painting is complete, you will receive detailed photographs for approval.
The remaining balance is due before delivery, shipping, or installation.
Timeline
Most commissions are completed within 6–10 weeks, depending on size, complexity, and my current studio schedule.
Because each painting develops through many layers and drying times, completion dates are estimates rather than guarantees.
Revisions
My goal is to create artwork you will love for many years.
To ensure a smooth process:
- The overall direction is established before painting begins.
- One round of minor adjustments is included near completion.
- Requests that significantly alter the agreed-upon concept after painting has begun may require additional fees or restarting the commission.
Cancellation Policy
Because commissioned artwork is created specifically for one collector:
- Deposits are non-refundable after work has begun.
- If a commission is canceled during the painting process, all work completed remains the property of the artist.
- The artist reserves the right to complete the artwork and offer it for sale.
Final Payment
Final payment is due within 30 days of notification that the artwork is complete.
Artwork will be released for delivery, shipping, or installation once the balance has been paid in full.
If final payment has not been received within 30 days and no alternate arrangements have been agreed to in writing, the commission may be canceled, the deposit retained, and the artwork may be offered for sale.
Shipping & Delivery
Local delivery may be available within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Complementary shipping is available throughout the Contiguous United States.
Original Artwork
Every commission is an original painting.
While previous works may serve as inspiration, no two paintings are ever identical. Variations in texture, layering, movement, and color are part of what makes each piece unique.

Caring for Your Artwork
Original paintings should be displayed away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
Dust gently with a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners.
